SkipThePortal is currently invite-only. This policy covers the testing phase and will be revised before a public launch.

Effective 24 October 2026

What SkipThePortal collects

When you sign in with Google, SkipThePortal receives your name, email address and profile image URL. They are kept in an encrypted session cookie in your browser.

SkipThePortal also keeps the job-search information you provide, and the drafts and decisions you make in the app.

Requesting access

If you request access, SkipThePortal keeps the email address, LinkedIn URL and target roles you enter, and when you sent them, so the request can be reviewed. If it is approved, your email address becomes your account, and you sign in with the Google account that uses it.

To limit abuse, SkipThePortal counts requests. It stores an hourly count for each network, labelled with a keyed one-way code made from your network address (never the address itself), and a daily count for each email address. Counts older than seven days are deleted in batches when later requests arrive.

How it is used

To sign you in, to check that your account is invited, and to find roles and prepare application and outreach materials for your review.

Where it is stored

The app is hosted on Vercel. Your job-search information is stored on a private Postgres server.

What SkipThePortal does not do

SkipThePortal does not sell your data or share it for advertising.

SkipThePortal does not ask for permission to send email from your Gmail account today. If that changes, Google will ask for your consent first and this page will be updated.

The ChatGPT and Claude connector

If you use SkipThePortal inside ChatGPT or Claude, your assistant sends us job titles, skills and a seniority level that it read from your resume. If you tell it your preferences, it may also send how many levels down you would accept, whether you want remote, hybrid or on-site work, whether you would relocate, the city or region you live in, and a minimum annual pay. It does not send the resume, your name, your email or your phone number, and the connector has no place to put them.

We use those fields once, to search public job postings and to check roles against your preferences. We do not store them or write them to logs. Each request writes one log line with the kind of request (POST or GET), the tool name, the result status and how long it took; the hosting platform adds its own timestamp. The line holds nothing else: no address and no search terms. A request outside what we cover also writes one line with the site host and a reason code (for example, hourly work), and nothing you sent. To limit abuse we keep your network address in server memory to count requests; it is deleted the first time the server handles a request more than an hour after your last one, or when the server instance shuts down, and it is not written to any log or database. The connector shows hiring roles such as “the VP of Product”, never the names or contact details of people. The assistant’s provider (OpenAI or Anthropic) handles your conversation under its own policy.
